A Busy Two Days For 'P4T'

The universe is strange. Very little may happen over the course of weeks. Then, suddenly, everything all at once!

On Sunday (March 25th) at 1:00 pm, '9/11 Press For Truth' screened to a full house at the Upstate Films theater in Rhinebeck, New York. Executive Producer Rory O'Connor of Globalvision attended the showing, introducing the movie. 'Press For Truth' was honored to join the fine tradition of Upstate Films, which has nurtured the specialty, alternative-to-the-mainstream film audience since 1972. It is known as the "venue for the hard-to-find, the overlooked and the controversial". Thanks to the guys at Upstate for a great event.

That same day, at 6:30 pm (Rio de Janeiro time), 'Press For Truth' had it's world film festival premiere as an official selection of the 12th annual 'It's All True' International Documentary Film Festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the biggest documentary film festival in South America. Thanks to everyone at 'It's All True'.

Then, yesterday (Monday the 26th), at 9:00 pm (Guadalajara time), '9/11 Press For Truth' had it's Latin American film festival premiere as an official selection of the 22nd annual Guadalajara International Film Festival in Mexico, the most important Spanish-language film festival in the world. Thanks to everyone at GIFF.

Congressman Announces New 9/11 Hearings

'The Albany Times Union' reported today on Rep. Dennis Kucinich's announcement of plans to launch an investigation of "a narrow portion" of 9/11, saying that the 9/11 Commission Final Report "never resolved some conflicting facts."

Anyone who has seen '9/11 Press For Truth' knows exactly what he is talking about, as members of the 9/11 Family Steering Committee revealed for the first time in the movie that, in the words of widow Lorie Van Auken, the Final Report failed to answer "70% of our questions". The FSC Review of the Final Report can be downloaded here.

Kucinich is chairman of the Domestic Policy Subcommittee which is currently examining various misdeads of government officials, as well as a 2008 Democratic presidential candidate. 911PressForTruth.com will soon be launching a new web site tailored around specific activism toward this Kucinich investigation. In the meantime, you are encouraged to send Rep. Kucinich a message of thanks through the Write Your Representative service and encourage him to broaden his inquiry until every one of the families' questions have been answered.

'P4T' Now Top 11,000 of All Movies Ever Made on IMDbPro

Internet Movie Database (IMDb) is the largest online database of films in existence, reaching back to the medium's beginning and spanning content of origin from around the world. IMDbPro, the private, subscription-funded spinoff intended for movie industry professionals, has a system called the MOVIEmeter, ranking all titles from number 1 to number 981,916, using "proprietary algorithms that take into account several measures of popularity for titles, primary of which is what people are looking at on the public IMDb.com website, as well as factors including box office receipts and user quality votes on a scale of 1-10".

The filmmakers were pleased to discover that, according to IMDb's measure of interest by it's 47 million visitors each month, '9/11 Press For Truth' is currently ranked #10,631. For a proper gauge of what that means, let's compare it with a similar movie.

The premise for the documentary 'On Native Soil' may sound familiar. It told the story of the 9/11 Commission, prominently featuring interviews with Sept. 11th families. 'Soil' was released the same month as 'Press For Truth'; but unlike 'Press', 'Soil' was released by major theatrical distributor Lionsgate and featured narration by Hollywood mega-stars Kevin Costner and Hillary Swank. 'On Native Soil's current IMDb MOVIEmeter ranking is #36,655.

The high ranking is even more surprising given that 'Press For Truth' has not done any major marketing or promotions for the past several months, meaning that the interest is taking place on a grassroots level, of it's own volition.

According to the MOVIEmeter graph, interest in the movie began to spike sharply in late January and has continued upward ever since, now at an all-time high -- even higher than last September when 'Press For Truth' premiered, at a ranking of #17,202.

Bill Moyers Offers 'P4T' as Premium on PBS

'9/11 Press For Truth' continues to gain stature and viewership. The DVD is being offered as a premium on PBS, using a voice over recorded by Bill Moyers to sell the film. Moyers is best known as the host of PBS's 'NOW with Bill Moyers' and was a news analyst for CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News, and MSNBC. In the mid-1960s, he was also White House Press Secretary for President Lyndon Johnson -- but we won't hold that against him.

A number of Pacifica stations across the nation have also offered the DVD as a premium.
