Former U.S. Gov't Official Quotes From 'Press For Truth'

Actor Paul Newman and former White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta have encouraged Burt Hall, former group director on matters of national security in the federal Government Accountability Office (GAO), to write an article posted today on Buzzflash.com entitled "A Matter of Security -- Republicans Vs. Democrats". Hall specifically cites '9/11 Press For Truth' as a "key source" for the article -- one of only two movies named, along with ABC docudrama 'Path to 9/11', which the article criticizes.

He also cites 'The Terror Timeline' as a key source, the book by Paul Thompson that was the basis for 'Press For Truth'.

"Jersey Girls" Announce a New Petition

Two weeks ago, famed 'Washington Post' reporter Bob Woodward's new book 'State of Denial', revealed the existence of a previously-unknown meeting on July 10, 2001, between then-CIA Director George Tenet, his counterterrorism chief Cofer Black, and White House National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, in which Tenet and Black claim to have warned Rice in the strongest terms that action needed to be taken to prevent the coming attack from Bin Laden.

Now, the "Jersey Girls", the four widowed protagonists of '9/11 Press For Truth', have announced a new online petition for the release of all transcripts and documents related to the July 10th, 2001, meeting, as well as the 28 redacted pages of the Joint Inquiry Report and the CIA Inspector General's report on 9/11 accountability. Please sign the petition here.

Of particular interest regarding the new revelation is the fact that neither Tenet nor Black nor Rice ever mentioned the July 10th meeting when testifying under oath before the 9/11 Commission, nor the earlier Congressional 9/11 Inquiry. Peter Rundlet, former counsel to the 9/11 Commission, points out that "withholding of information" from the Commission may constitute a crime and suggests that "it is hard to come to a different conclusion" than that of a cover-up regarding the incident.

Foreign TV Embraces 'Press For Truth', American TV Ignores It

On the 5th anniversary of the Sept. 11th attacks, '9/11 Press For Truth' aired for three nights in a row throughout the Middle East on major television network Al Jazeera.

In Norway, it aired on TV2, the nation's main commercial television station, with 1/3rd of the total TV viewers in the country, and 2/3rds of the commercial market. Norwegian newspapers reported that 200,000 viewers tuned in for the Sept. 11th anniversary showing, which was competing with 9/11-related programing on the nation's two other major channels.

Since then, it has also aired in Spain and Poland. In Spain, it aired on national public channel TV3 Catalunya.

In Poland, it aired through KRRT, and the DVD was included in the Sept. 6th, 2006, issue of the country-wide, weekly, Polish magazine Przekrój ("Cross-section"), along with a major article on the movie.

Meanwhile, in the United States, our television distributor MercuryMedia continue to search for an interested American outlet. Thus far, the acquisition executives at most channels have liked it but feel it is simply too explosive for American TV audiences.

Secret Service "Panic" at 1600 Showing of 'Press For Truth'

Stephen Surles, a man known as "The Sign Guy" for his five-months-long demonstration outside the front of the White House with, among other signs, one reading "The Sign Guy Sez So", emailed the makers of '9/11 Press For Truth' about a recent incident involving our movie.

"I have a bonafide, ratified, certified and verified permit with Metropolitan Police Department for the street, which is still under the jurisdiction of the District of Columbia," writes Surles. "I started showing ['Press For Truth'] on my laptop 30 minutes after sundown on 10-01-06 Sunday. A few people gathered and were immersed in the movie. The movie touches your heart."

At this point, according to Surles, a Secret Service agent arrived asking to see his permit. Surles responded that the same agent had already checked his permit yesterday, but provided it again. Surles' permit was good until midnight on the night in question. The agent left.

A minute later, "more [Secret Service] came -- 5 or 6 at a time." The agents made a copy of his permit. "They told me my permit didn’t have a laptop listed as items authorized," writes Surles. "I told them I could have a laptop... I called Captain Bray at [Metropolitan Police Department who] pointed out... that pages 3 and 4 of the permit [allow for items such as laptops]."

After going away to inspect his permit again, the Secret Service agents returned to explain that his permit was only good for 24 hours and that he was to pack up again. Surles writes, "I pointed out their misreading of the details of the permit [which allowed me to stay there until midnight of that day].

In the end, Surles argument won out, and the agents left him alone for the remainder of the night.
